Self Paced, Accredited Academics. Dedicated Space for Culinary, Art, Science, Literacy and a Garden Club!
Mission Statement
Village Learning Center’s mission is to provide enriched educational services in academics, art, science, literacy, culinary arts, and farming to area youth enhanced with Christian principles and community service efforts for the elderly, veterans and shelter animals.
Setting the Tone
We will start each day in the hall with a Prayer and any Personal Intentions, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. At VLC, we believe these two brief actions set the tone for the day and instill valuable morals in our children that often seem forgotten in today's fast paced world.
VLC has a Chapel Room for prayer, personal reflection and reading of the Bible.
Curriculum
Acellus Academy is an accredited academic program offering a wide selection of courses from PreK-12 grades. There are no mandatory curriculums for Culinary, Art, Science and Gardening; All students will have access to materials and resources for self-instructed experiences in each class. Students are encouraged to explore baking, painting, drawing, circuit building and elementary experiments to discover their passion. The Library Lounge is stocked with books for all reading levels and is ever growing. Our Gardening Club will create an Herb & Vegetable Garden that will empower our children to understand where food comes from and experience the satisfaction of producing their own food. The Edible and Medicinal Garden will consist of useful Herbs and Flowers traditionally used for culinary and medicinal purposes. Our children will learn the important differences between edible and poisonous plants. Perennial Flowers will be planted throughout the Village and within a Garden simply for its beauty. No chemical pesticides will be used on any plants.
In today's computerized world, there is a perceived reduced need for handwriting, both printed and cursive-at VLC we believe otherwise. All students will have dedicated time each morning to practicing and perfecting their penmanship, older students will be provided with a calligraphy set to expand their writing skills.
Students will participate in community service efforts for the benefit of the elderly, veterans, and shelter animals. VLC will coordinate these programs on Fridays under the Pay it Forward Friday Program (PIFF).
Children should be afforded the opportunity to explore areas outside of academics at their pace and according to their interests. Children that are not interested in the Special available on a given day can elect to spend their time in the Library Lounge or Chapel instead. No forced learning! Our Gardening Club will be growing an herb & vegetable garden and planting flowers throughout the Village as well as in our dedicated grounds. Imagine a day where your child can successfully complete their academics then bake cookies and plant flowers…or spend their afternoon in our Library Lounge engrossed in their favorite novel. This is what we envision for our children.

Founder’s Message
My son started homeschooling when COVID hit us in 2019. We excitedly began working in the newly created classroom my husband and I put together in our home. After nearly six months, I realized that my son was becoming a statistic; he was lonely, craving social interaction and becoming uninterested in learning. Fortunately, the end of the school year was near so we decided to tough it out and come up with a new plan for the next school year. Public school fell short. Catholic school fell short and hit us hard financially. We needed a change. We needed a wholesome, faith based environment that did not teach against our beliefs. We needed the social interaction that schooling provides. We searched online, we talked with friends and family - nothing existed that answered all our needs. The answer became clear...like a sign from God I knew what to do! And so, Village Learning Center was created.
So, what is the benefit of enrolling in VLC?
Benefits of VLC versus Homeschooling and Public Schools
Homeschooled children are often left feeling isolated, lonely, and withdrawn. This may result in a lack of interest in learning and cause social anxiety and awkwardness. From the Parent's perspective, you are obligated to creating a curriculum and instructing it daily. There is no Transportation Reimbursement offered to those that Homeschool. Enrolling in VLC qualifies you to the twice per year Transportation Reimbursement for no longer utilizing public school transport. This is currently over $1,000 annually!! As a Parent of an enrolled student at VLC, you are welcome to attend or contribute as often or as little as you choose. This allows you to still be involved in the joy of educating your child while also freeing up the bulk of your day to accomplish other responsibilities. It's a win-win!
Public school curriculums do not always meet our standards; Parents should not have to worry about if their child is being taught principals that are not in line with the Christian Faith.
Enrollment & Cost
Enrollment is currently limited to 36 seats. A waitlist will be established for additional candidates. Currently enrolled students will automatically be enrolled for the following Fiscal Year unless the Parent provides written notification that they are terminating enrollment. VLC honors Christian principals and expects that all Parents and Students will respect and follow those principals. The Monthly Enrollment Rate is $480.00 and is due in advance on the 1st of the month for the current month. There is a one-time Admission Fee of $300 per child due at time of enrollment.
The Enrollment Rate includes all costs; there are no additional fees throughout the Year; no classroom supply fees, no mandatory list of items to supply per child, no mandatory reading books, no Field Trip costs. Your student needs to simply show up each day...we provide the rest! Students should pack a lunch, snack and drink daily as we do not provide meals.
There will be opportunities to purchase Fundraiser Items to support our mission.
Special Needs & Young Learners
Our Center is located on the second floor; students and COC's must be capable of traversing a full set of stairs. For students with special learning needs, Acellus Academy does offer select courses designed with that in mind, however since the program is self-paced, there is no technical requirement that each student complete their grade level within our fiscal calendar. VLC hosts a Graduation Ceremony each Summer and will include each student that has completed their respective Grade Level. Parents of special needs students must provide their own tutor if necessary. Young Learners may require their Parent be with them all day, and that is fine with us! Parents need to determine what level of self-sufficiency their child has and plan to be present accordingly.
